January 23rd - Blog# 12 - This Is Me: The TikTok Ban Update: A Creator’s Honest Take on the New Deal, Algorithm Changes, and What Comes Next?

 Hey Everyone! 

It has been a while since I have been on here! I have been super busy lately and finally things have at least calmed down. I want to do more blogs so I am making up for a while of not blogging. 

Today we are going to talk about the TikTok BAN! 

So here is what I know so far, TikTok just signed a deal with the U.S. Government on January 22nd and today (the 23rd) is the first day that the deal has started, let me share some things that I have noticed.

1. The algorithm has changed a bit but not very noticeable, I have noticed that there was one video where I  liked it a while ago and it showed up on my feed and I thought that was a bit weird. 

2. My search history is so creepy, I have got weird suggestions for my search like this... 


The ones that are blocked out are my private searches

I have also heard this from other creators and they have gotten creepy searches like "im watching you" and "what are you doing go to your father's h...." What the heck is going on? its so creepy!

3. I was expecting my feed to show republican and government content but I haven't seen any of that yet hopefully never! 

4. When I opened the app this morning I was expecting a whole different algorithm and a notice about whats going on. I got this instead! 



This is what the message said that I got when I opened the app!

and I read a bit and I clicked the "here" and it told me about Ads and I turned it off let me show you. Go to the app, go to your profile, go to the 3 lines on the top right, go to Settings and privacy, Scroll down to Ads and click on it and turn off "Targeted ads outside of TikTok" 

I was told that it helps with your algorithm and to also Block Oracle Account because they are the one of the compneys that bought it. It owns 15% and the other buyers are, Silver Lake and MGX** (Abu Dhabi) and Existing ByteDance Investors. 

5. I am not sure whats going to happen within the next few days or weeks or months with this new deal and we shall see and I will obviously give you more information as I can.

If you guys think I missed somethings please let me know in the comments and if there is anything else that I should know about this new deal I would appreciate it. 

Just like all of you I dont know whats going to happen and whats going to come but I will let you know that I (just like all of you) will be on other platforms like YouTube, Blogger, X (Twitter), Threads, Instagram, Facebook and BlueSky. I will try to post more TikTok's but we shall see.

This Is Me Blog #8: What have you missed? ~ Saturday May, 24th, 2025!

 Hey guys! Welcome back to another blog! It has been a while since my last blog! So here is what you have missed! the Tik Tok ban is still in affect but its back in the App Store!
